Pineapple, Coconut & Oatmeal Soap

My first blog post! This is a soap I made earlier today. It's hot processed and contains pineapple juice, coconut milk and oatmeal. Scented with a coconut citrus fragrance and topped with glitter :)

  2. Hey, thanks so much!!! I tend to go through phases, and right now I seem to be stuck on making HP soap! I love that it is ready so much faster and that I don't have to use as much f.o. in it...the fragrance seems to stick around a lot longer in my HP soap too!

  3. How did the pineapple juice react with the lye and did the pineapple color the soap?

  4. Hi Kirppu, I added the pineapple juice after the cook, so it didn't interact directly with the lye. The next time I soap a tropical fragrance, I will use pineapple juice as part of my lye solution and post my results!

  5. Did you ever try pineapple juice in with the lye solution? I'm wondering if I can add it to cold process soap or if I should try to find some pineapple oil?

    1. Hi Lindsey, thanks for stopping by! I haven't used 100% citrus juice in CP soap yet, because acidic juices can neutralize the lye and you could end up with a soft, over-superfat soap that won't set up. Having said that though, I do have a soaping friend who has used 100% juice and she said she had no troubles with her soap (perhaps she used juices that were less acidic?). If you want to try using juice to dissolve your lye, I would try 1/2 frozen pineapple juice and 1/2 frozen water. Or, you could freeze together pineapple juice and coconut milk and use that 50:50 with water.

      Here is a great video from Soaping101 on what can happen when you use 100% acidic juice, and the next video explains how to counterbalance the acidity: Making Cold Process Citrus Soap {from whole lemons}

  7. 3 Researches SHOW How Coconut Oil Kills Waist Fat.

    The meaning of this is that you actually burn fat by eating coconut fats (including coconut milk, coconut cream and coconut oil).

    These 3 studies from major medical journals are sure to turn the traditional nutrition world around!
